Before there was Shango Fitness, there was just a kid with a diagnosis and a dream.
My name is Emiola Jowosimi, and I built this from the ground up — not just to coach, but to give others what I once needed: belief, discipline, and the tools to overcome. I hold a kinesiology degree from Coe College, but more than that, I hold a story shaped by struggle and rebirth.
I was born with severe asthma. Doctors said I wouldn’t walk, wouldn’t speak properly, wouldn’t play sports. My family feared for my life — and honestly, so did I. But something deep inside me refused to accept the script I was handed.
Fast forward: I made it onto the field. High school, then college football. I earned that spot. But the real game wasn’t played under Friday night lights — it was behind the scenes. Losing people close to me. Dealing with heartbreak, grief, setbacks. I was tested, again and again.
But in the middle of all that chaos, one man changed my life: my coach. He saw more in me than just an athlete. He showed up for me. He pushed me. He helped me build the mindset I carry today. That was the moment I knew — I wanted to do the same for others.
And then? A torn ACL. A near-death surgery complication. Another low. Another voice saying “maybe this is it.” But I’m still here. And every moment since has been about one thing: turning pain into power.
I created Shango Fitness not just for lifters, athletes, or gym rats — but for fighters. For people who’ve been told they can’t. For anyone who’s ever been counted out and wants to count themselves back in.
This isn’t just coaching. This is the comeback.
This is the beginning.
Let’s break limits — together.
